DENTON, Texas — A football player at Denton High School has died, the school’s football program announced Tuesday on social media.

According to the post on X, the student-athlete who passed away was Tro’Mario Allen Jr.

“A kid full of energy, always smiling, and loved by so many,” the post reads. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

According to Allen’s X account, he was a senior who played cornerback for the Broncos.

Denton ISD released the following statement on Allen’s death:

“It is with profound sadness that Denton ISD shares the passing of a Denton High School student earlier this week. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, no further details will be released.

The loss of a student is heartbreaking for a school community, and support has been made available for both students and staff. Counseling professionals have been on campus to provide comfort and guidance for students whose parents have given consent.

We ask that the community keep the student’s loved ones, friends, and the Bronco family in their thoughts during this very difficult time.”

Details on Allen’s death weren’t immediately clear.
