ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A woman and her mother are dead after the woman’s boyfriend stabbed them several times at a home in St. Pete.
The suspect, 41-year-old Kirk Hysell Jr., has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The incident happened around 10:14 a.m. Saturday at 5252 108th Street North, the agency said. Deputies responding to reports of a homicide arrived to find 34-year-old Christina Donzero suffering from multiple stab wounds in a bedroom.
Later, deputies found 75-year-old Betti “Suzanne” Thevenet Donzero in the garage of the home, also suffering from stab wounds. Both women were declared dead at the scene.
Soon after, Hysell was found in the bathroom of the home with multiple “self-inflicted” injuries before he was taken to a hospital.
“Detectives say Hysell told his daughter that he had killed his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s mother, which prompted her to call 911,” deputies said.
During questioning, Hysell reportedly admitted to the murders, adding that he initially planned to kill the whole family.
“He also stated he planned to kill his other family members and if he got out, he would ‘do it again,'” deputies said.
At this time, Hysell is still in the hospital and will be taken to the Pinellas County Jail once he is released.
