Detached garage fire spreads into attic of Hill Country Village home, SAFD says

A garage fire spread into the attic of a Hill Country Village home early Thursday, causing serious damage, SAFD said.

HILL COUNTRY VILLAGE, Texas — A detached garage fire caused serious damage to a large home in Hill Country Village early Thursday morning, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

Firefighters were called around 2:20 a.m. to a property in the 300 block of Hill County Lane, near Highway 281.

An SAFD battalion chief said crews arrived to find the detached garage fully involved in flames. Because of how close it was to the main house, the fire quickly spread into the second-story eaves and attic.

Officials said the blaze caused significant damage to the attic area of the home.

One resident and a cat were able to get out safely. Firefighters were still searching for a second cat.

Fire investigators were called to determine the cause. SAFD and Hill Country Village police responded.
