Disney expected to bring new cruise ship to Galveston in 2027

More cruise options could be coming to the Port of Galveston in the coming years.

GALVESTON, Texas — Disney is expected to expand its cruise operations out of Galveston in the coming years.

According to Galveston Wharves Port Director Rodger Rees, Disney will be expanding its operations to include full-time service out of the port along the Texas Coast.

Rees said it will happen in 2027.

“They’re putting a lot of money into that, and because of that, Disney is expanding to full-time here in Galveston starting in ’27,” he said during a recent meeting.

According to Rees, they’re bringing a new ship to the Port of Galveston Cruise Terminal.

He said Disney bought the ship from a cruise line in Europe and “it’s a bigger ship.”

KHOU 11 News reached out to Disney and is waiting to hear back.
