‘Disruption in classroom’ leads to Corsicana ISD staff member getting airlifted to hospital

According to a letter sent from the principal of Collins Intermediate School, the staff member’s condition is unknown at this time.

CORSICANA, Texas — A staff member at Collins Intermediate School in Corsicana, Texas was airlifted to the hospital Thursday after getting injured in a classroom disruption.

According to a letter sent to parents by Principal Tiffany Boortz, there was a “disruption in a classroom” which resulted in an injury to the staff member. No other students or staff were in danger and the campus was placed on “Hold” status while the staff member was tended to, the letter stated. 

The employee’s condition is unknown at this time. 

Boortz said the Corsicana ISD Police Department is currently investigating the incident. 

“The safety of our students and staff remains a top priority,” Boortz said in the letter to parents. “Our thoughts are focused on our colleague during the recovery process. Additional administrators and counselors will be on campus for the remainder of this week to help ensure a safe environment for all.”

No information regarding the details of the disruption was released.
