DJ Daniel has been sworn in as an honorary officer for more than 1,300 law enforcement agencies across the country.
WASHINGTON — DJ Daniel, the Pearland boy who has been sworn in as an honorary member of more than 1,300 law enforcement agencies across the country, is faced with a new health battle.
DJ’s father, Theodis, said his son has three new tumors.
“Just winging it day by day. He does have three new tumors. It’s rough. There isn’t a class that can teach you how to deal with it. You’re hearing that your child has a nasty disease,” he said.
The White House posted about the update on social media.
“DJ is one of the strongest, bravest young men — and has now been sworn into 1,351 law enforcement agencies across the country. Agent Daniel, you’re a true legend,” the post read.
During a presidential address in March, DJ was honored by President Donald Trump.
“Tonight, DJ, we’re going to do you the biggest honor of them all,” Trump said during his address. “I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service.”
DJ has been faced with a health battle for years.
“From 2018, they said I only had five months to live. Look at me now, I’m still living, but the craziest part is I’m 13 years old and I had 13 brain surgeries. That’s how many times my personality has changed. Every time I went in there, over 13 times, my dad has to relearn me,” DJ said when he was named the Honorary Assistant Chief of the Kemah Police Department earlier this year.
