Dog killed, cat missing after early-morning house fire on northeast side, SAFD says

SAFD says the woman who lives there managed to get out on her own before firefighters arrived.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman escaped safely from her home, but her dog died and her cat is still missing after an early-morning fire on the northeast side Tuesday, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

Firefighters were called out just before 4 a.m. to the 530 block of Radiance Drive for reports of a house fire. Crews arrived to find heavy flames coming from the front left corner of the home.

SAFD says the woman who lives there managed to get out on her own before firefighters arrived. Tragically, her dog did not survive, and crews were unable to locate her cat.

Firefighters quickly brought the flames under control, containing the fire to a single room, officials said. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Fire investigators are on the scene working to identify what sparked it.

This is a developing story.
