SAN ANTONIO — Want to help save lives and maybe score some country music gold?
South Texas Blood & Tissue is giving donors a little extra incentive this spring, a chance to win floor-level tickets to see George Strait live in concert.
Anyone who donates blood at a South Texas Blood & Tissue donor center between March 15 and April 4 will be automatically entered into the drawing for the April 9 show in Austin.
But the real reward, organizers say, goes far beyond the concert.
Just one donation can help patients like Aleyda, a young girl battling leukemia. Diagnosed at just 3 years old, Aleyda now relies on blood transfusions to keep her strong.
Her mother says the difference after each transfusion is immediate.
“Her color comes back, her energy returns, and she’s ready to play again,” Amber said.
As Fiesta season approaches, officials say donations often dip, even though the need for blood remains constant across South Texas hospitals.
With nine donor centers across the region, organizers are encouraging residents to roll up their sleeves and give.
Appointments can be made online or by phone, but walk-ins are also welcome.
So whether you’re in it for the chance to see the King of Country, or just to make a difference, now’s a good time to take a seat in the donor chair.
You can visit SouthTexasBlood.org or call 833-You- Give (833-968-4483) to schedule a donation.
