Donate your ex’s stuff for a good cause: Goodwill San Antonio launches Valentine’s Day donation drive

Goodwill San Antonio’s “Break Up With Your Ex’s Stuff” drive invites locals to turn what no longer serves them into opportunities for others.

SAN ANTONIO — Got an ex’s hoodie taking up closet space? A lamp that brings back memories you’d rather forget? Goodwill San Antonio is giving locals a chance to turn breakup baggage into something positive.

According to Goodwill San Antonio, the nonprofit is launching its new donation drive, “Break Up With Your Ex’s Stuff,” encouraging the community to donate items from past relationships including clothing, furniture and household goods—and give them a second life.

The campaign kicks off Thursday, Feb. 12. Donors who drop off items at any San Antonio Goodwill location will receive a limited-edition sticker, while supplies last, as a lighthearted nod to closure, according to a press release.

But the drive is about more than just decluttering. Goodwill San Antonio said every donation directly supports its mission of “changing lives through the power of work.”

To sweeten the deal, Goodwill said shoppers can also score big during Valentine’s Day weekend, with a 50% off sale scheduled for Feb. 14 and 15 at Goodwill stores.

For those ready to make a clean break and help their community at the same time, Goodwill San Antonio encourages residents to donate, shop and spread a little extra love this February.
