Downtown’s Hotel Havana to serve its last guests after 15 years

The hotel’s restaurant, Ocho, closed back in June.

SAN ANTONIO — Hotel Havana, the boutique hotel that combines Caribbean atmosphere with Spanish architectural influence, is in the process of accommodating its final guests in downtown San Antonio.

General Manager Shane Hamilton confirmed in a statement the Museum Reach hotel will “cease operations and close on Oct. 20, 2025.” Staff are working to notify and come up with new arrangements for those who had made reservations beyond that date.

“We cannot thank our dedicated team members enough for their thoughtful service over the years,” Hamilton said. “Continuing to support our colleagues and caring for our guests throughout this transition remains a top priority.”

News of the closure comes just a few months after Ocho, the hotel’s popular restaurant with River Walk views, served its last meal

Hotel Havana is managed by Hyatt and Austin-based Bunkhouse, which is now under the Hyatt brand after a recent deal in which Hyatt acquired its parent company Standard International. The Navarro Street building that houses the hotel was first constructed in 1914 by a local business owner before it was renovated and reopened in 2010 under the Bunkhouse Group.

It remains to be seen what will be done with the property, or if it will be sold. Since 1986 the building has been on the National Register of Historic Places due in part to “its riverside location, its flourishing downtown landscape, and its intriguing, eclectic architectural style.”

Anyone with reservations and questions can call Hyatt customer service at 1-888-848-9496 (within U.S.) or 1-402-952-1131 (outside U.S.) if they have questions about how their reservation is impacted.
