Families remain displaced after a devastating fire destroyed 11 units at Falcon Ridge Apartments in Universal City.
UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas — Dozens of families are still without homes following a fire that tore through an apartment complex in Universal City last week.
City officials say 64 apartments at the Falcon Ridge Apartments were damaged in the fire, with 11 units completely destroyed. Fortunately, everyone — including pets — was able to escape safely.
So far, officials have not released information about what caused the fire. Universal City leaders are expected to provide more details, including an update on recovery efforts, during a press conference scheduled for Monday morning at 11 a.m.
Property managers at Falcon Ridge say they are working to relocate displaced residents into any available apartments on-site. In addition, the local apartment association has offered to help find housing for those affected.
The city has released new images showing the extent of the damage. Meanwhile, the First Baptist Church of Universal City has become a central hub for recovery efforts, serving as both a shelter and a donation drop-off location for residents in need.
A representative for the tenants is expected to attend Monday’s briefing. KENS 5 will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
