SAN ANTONIO — A man died after being shot by a Castle Hills police officer who was responding to a reported hit-and-run incident Wednesday morning, state authorities said.
Officials with Castle Hills PD said the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of the westbound frontage road of Northbound Loop 410.
According to investigators, an officer was responding to the reported hit-and-run when an unidentified man exited a vehicle and moved towards him while armed with “edged weapons.” Officials said the officer responded by firing his weapon.
It’s unknown how many shots were fired, nor how many times the man was struck. It’s also unclear if he was connected to the initial hit-and-run.
No officers were injured.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
