Driver arrested after Zavala County pursuit involving 7 undocumented immigrants

Authorities say a suspect led deputies on a chase, damaging ranch property before being arrested.

ZAVALA COUNTY, Texas — A multi-agency pursuit in Zavala County ended with an arrest after a suspect damaged property while trying to flee law enforcement.

According to the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office, the chase began Friday evening on FM 117 involving a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado.

Deputies, along with U.S. Border Patrol and a local constable, pursued the vehicle as it traveled through several ranch properties.

Authorities say the suspect caused significant damage by crashing through multiple ranch gates during the pursuit.

The chase continued onto FM 187 before the vehicle was eventually found abandoned.

Officials say the truck had heavy damage to the front and side. The following morning, deputies located and arrested the driver.

Investigators also found seven undocumented individuals who had been passengers in the vehicle.

Officials thanked law enforcement partners for their coordinated response.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
