SAN ANTONIO — A driver was arrested after a high-speed chase ends in a crash in Seguin Monday evening, according to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to assist the San Antonio Police Department around 6:30 p.m., with a pursuit of a black Mustang traveling east on I-10 near the 591 mile marker.

Authorities said the Mustang driver, identified as 41-year-old John Guajardo from San Antonio, failed to stop for deputies and continued speeding, reaching over 100 mph. The chase continued onto FM Road 725 heading southbound and going through multiple intersections before the vehicle collided with another car at the intersection of North Austin Street and West Krezdorn Street.

According to GCSO, Guajardo was taken into custody at the 800 block of North Austin Street without incident. A female passenger, identified at 39-year-old Frances Lerma from San Antonio, was also in the Mustang and sustained minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, a 42-year-old man, complained of neck and back pain and was taken to the hospital.

Authorities said Guajardo was charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was transported to the Guadalupe County jail.

This remains an ongoing investigation, according to GCSO.
