Driver crashes vehicle into Walmart in northwest-side San Antonio, police say

Police said it is unclear at this time whether the driver suffered a medical issue or if there was a mechanical failure.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police said a driver accidentally crashed their vehicle into a Walmart on the city’s northwest side Sunday afternoon.

SAPD said officers were called to the Walmart located in the 1600 block of Vance Jackson Road near I-10 around 2:20 p.m.

According to police, the driver crashed into the doors of the building which struck an elderly woman in a wheelchair. Police said it is unclear at this time whether the driver suffered a medical issue behind the wheel or if there was a mechanical failure.

The woman struck in the crash suffered minor injuries. The driver and the passenger in the vehicle were transported to a local hospital, according to officials.

Police said it is not likely anyone will face charges. No other injuries were reported.
