Driver dies after box truck falls into oncoming traffic, Seguin police say

A major collision in Seguin leaves a 63-year-old man dead after a truck lands on his sedan at State Highway 123 Bypass and I-10.

SEGUIN, Texas — A 63-year-old man is dead after a major collision involving a box-type truck and two other cars in Seguin on Wednesday.

The accident happened at the intersection of State Highway 123 Bypass and Interstate 10 around 6:30 a.m.

Police say a Hino straight truck was traveling westbound on I-10 when it veered off the roadway and fell into the northbound lanes of State Highway 123 Bypass. The truck struck a gray sedan and then landed on a red sedan. Both cars were traveling northbound.

The driver of the red sedan, identified as Anthony Stephenson, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck and the driver of the gray sedan were both hospitalized with injuries.

The intersection was closed during the investigation as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Seguin Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
