Two people in the other vehicle were injured in the crash.
SAN ANTONIO — A driver took off in his truck accompanied by a child after a major crash on the east side late Sunday night, police say.
San Antonio Police officers responded to the bridge on North New Braunfels Avenue at Burleson Street around 11:26 p.m. for reports of a crash.
Police say the driver disappeared from the scene as crews worked to free the people in the SUV he hit.
Officers say it’s miraculous that the man and woman in the SUV survived the head-on crash, given the severity of the scene.
Firefighters had to cut through the roof and doors of the SUV to get the couple out. They were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.
However, police say the driver of the truck that hit the victims disappeared from the crash scene with a child in a carseat inside of his truck. Police don’t know if either were injured in the crash.
Police say he could face charges for leaving the scene.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
