SAN ANTONIO – A driver is in the hospital in critical condition after being shot while stopped at a red light early Thursday morning, according to San Antonio police.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. near the intersection of Loop 410 and Perrin Beitel Road, on the city’s Northeast Side.
According to police, the victim was stopped at a light when another sedan pulled up alongside it. That’s when, police say, someone inside the other vehicle opened fire, striking the driver in the face.
SAPD says the victim and a female passenger in the car had just left a dance hall prior to the shooting. The woman was not injured in the incident.
The driver was taken by ambulance to Brooke Army Medical Center, where at last check, he was listed in critical condition.
Authorities say the suspect vehicle fled northbound on Perrin Beitel Road, and has not been found.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
