Driver injured in hit-and-run crash on IH-10 West access road, police say

San Antonio police are searching for a driver who fled the scene after crashing into a man who had stopped on the shoulder of IH-10 West early Sunday morning.

SAN ANTONIO — A 26-year-old man was hospitalized early Sunday morning after a hit-and-run crash on the city’s northwest side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Officers were dispatched around 2:12 a.m. to the 13500 block of IH-10 West Southbound Access Road for reports of a major accident involving two vehicles.

Police say the 26-year-old man had pulled over onto the shoulder due to a flat tire. Investigators say he was attempting to relocate from the shoulder to a nearby gas station when his vehicle was struck by another driver.

According to authorities, the suspect exited his vehicle after the crash but fled the scene before officers arrived. Police say the driver failed to stop and render aid.

The victim sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released.

No suspects have been identified or arrested at this time. The investigation remains ongoing, and information is subject to change as detectives continue to gather details.
