Driver killed in crash east of downtown, police say

The accident caused traffic to be backed up while officials worked to investigate and clear the scene.

SAN ANTONIO — A driver was killed when they crashed their vehicle east of downtown Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on I-10 at Roland Avenue.

Officials say a driver was killed when they lost control of their vehicle while passing another car, then hit a light pole and crashed.

A truck driver saw the accident and stopped, but he was not involved in the crash.

The identity of the driver has not been released.
