Driver plows SUV through Texas home, family unharmed

The family was home at the time. The driver of the SUV was treated for minor injuries, but no one else was hurt.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported Thursday after an SUV crashed through a house in a neighborhood in the Spring area.

According to the Spring Fire Department, the driver was westbound on Floral Ridge Drive and crashed into a house on Pepperberry Trail. It happened in a neighborhood just off FM 2920 west of I-45.

The SUV went through the front door before plowing through the entryway and living room before coming to a stop in a room on the back side of the house. It came to rest just past a couch and a door was on the ground just behind the vehicle. The SUV left a trail of debris and destruction through the home.

Air 11 video showed skid marks in the street in front of the house. The SUV appeared to have gone right over the curb next to the driveway and straight through the front door of the home. On the back side of the house, more broken doors and debris were seen lying in the yard.

Kyle Camua and his twin sister were home at the time. The 16-year-olds are on winter break.

They said they heard what they described as an explosion around 9:45 a.m.

Kyle said his sister had just walked out of the living room and into the kitchen seconds before the SUV entered their home.

“It was like an explosion, like, my ears were ringing. Like, I went deaf probably for like five seconds. It was really bad. The whole house shook and there’s debris everywhere,” he said.

Thankfully, when the SUV smashed through the front door, flew past the dining room and ended up crashing through the living room, no one was seriously injured.

Kyle took videos of the aftermath.

Spring FD officials said the driver refused EMS attention and was allowed to leave the scene. The cause of the crash remains unclear.

The family’s insurance company took over the scene.

According to Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman, someone called 911 and told dispatchers that she didn’t know the woman who crashed into her house.
