Duke Men’s Basketball urges the San Antonio Spurs to consider Kon Knueppel for their No. 2 NBA Draft pick.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs own the No. 2 pick in the NBA Draft Lottery, and many speculate who they’ll select.
There are a handful of players worthy of being selected second overall, from Dylan Harper to Ace Bailey, but the Duke Men’s Basketball social media account is adding another name the Spurs should consider: Kon Knueppel.
Once the league announced that the Spurs had the No. 2 pick, Duke Men’s Basketball posted Knueppel’s name to San Antonio.
The team posted on X, “You guys should give Kon Knueppel a long look at 2 Spurs.”
Knueppel was Duke’s second-best player on the team last season, behind Cooper Flagg, but the Spurs’ targeting of Knueppel with their No. 2 pick is a reach.
Undoubtedly, Knueppel’s outstanding outside shooting (47.9% field goal and 40.6% 3-point shooting in 39 games last season) would do well in San Antonio, but he is not someone any team would pick at No. 2 in a talent-rich draft.
The Spurs own the No. 14 pick, but chances are extremely low that Kon’s name will still be on the draft board at 14 unless the team makes a deal to move up in the draft if he is on their radar.
