A federal judge sentenced an Eagle Pass man to 30 years in prison for drug trafficking and firearms charges.
EAGLE PASS, Texas — An Eagle Pass man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearms offenses tied to activity on Kickapoo Tribal Land.
Federal prosecutors say 40-year-old Rolando Oyervides Jr., also known as “Roly,” was sentenced to 360 months after being convicted of trafficking methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana while illegally possessing firearms.
According to court documents, investigators with the Drug Enforcement Administration and Homeland Security Investigations began looking into Oyervides in 2019.
Authorities say a search of his social media revealed images of multiple drugs, packaging materials and firearms, along with messages related to drug distribution.
Investigators later determined Oyervides was selling narcotics from multiple residences, sometimes with children present, and using others to transport drugs several times a week.
In January 2020, agents executed a search warrant at an Eagle Pass home, where they arrested Oyervides and seized drugs, firearms, ammunition and drug trafficking materials.
Prosecutors say Oyervides pleaded guilty to several charges and was later found guilty on additional counts tied to possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.
Court records show he had a prior conviction for drug distribution in 2004.
Officials say the case highlights ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and illegal firearms activity in the region.
