SAN ANTONIO — Six to seven vehicles caught fire early Thursday morning after flames broke out at a north-side homeless camp, according to officials.

Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke at a homeless camp located at 66 Haby Dr. around 2:10 a.m. The camp was located behind an auto shop and Alamo City Public Works.

Officials say six to seven vehicles caught fire as well of a number of scrap and debris. Firefighters were able to knock down the bulk of the fire, but not before it encroached one of the nearby buildings. The fire did not catch at the building, however.

No injuries were reported. Public works were called out to bulldoze the debris.
