Early morning fire at remodeled home northwest of downtown under investigation as arson

Firefighters quickly put out a fire at a home under renovation early Wednesday morning. Investigators say the cause appears to be arson.

SAN ANTONIO — Fire investigators are looking into a suspected arson after an early morning fire at a home northwest of downtown.

The fire was reported around 4:41 a.m. Wednesday at a home in the 100 block of Peche Street, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

When firefighters arrived, they found a working fire in the back of the home, which officials say is currently being remodeled.

Crews were able to quickly knock down the flames, limiting the damage to the structure. Fire officials say the home sustained minimal damage.

Investigators believe the fire may have been intentionally set, and an arson investigation is now underway.

No injuries were reported.

Both the San Antonio Fire Department and San Antonio Police Department responded to the scene as the investigation continues.
