East Texas country music artist Cody Johnson wins CMA Male Vocalist of the Year award

Johnson, a Sebastopol native and Groveton High School graduate, won the CMA Male Vocalist of the Year for 2025.

GROVETON, Texas — East Texas country music artist Cody Johnson was declared the CMA Country Music Awards Male Vocalist of the Year for 2025.

Johnson, a Sebastopol native and Groveton High School graduate, was nominated for the title in the 59th Annual CMA Awards, which took place Wednesday night.

In a tight competition between himself, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Zach Top and Morgan Wallen, Johnson was declared the winner. He two total nominations, the other being Entertainer of the Year.

Winners for the CMA Awards are determined by more than 7,000+ industry professional members of the Country Music Association.
