East Texas man gets 30 years in prison for sexually abusing at least 6 children

In 2018, a child reported he sexually abused them when they were 5 years old. As the investigation continued into 2023, several others said they were abused by him.

QUITMAN, Texas — An East Texas man was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Thursday for sexually abusing at least six young children.

Kevin Ray Larsson, of Gilmer, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact in a Wood County courtroom. He was then sentenced to 30 years and ordered to pay $2,800 in fines.

Through the plea, he also acknowledged his guilt for an additional offense of aggravated sexual assault of a child and multiple additional counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact. He also cannot come within 200 yards of any of the impacted children for the rest of his life.

Back in 2018, a child made an outcry saying they were sexually abused by Larsson when they were 5 years old. As the investigation continued into 2023, several other children told investigators they were abused by Larsson as well, the Wood County District Attorney’s Office said.

At least six children said Larsson sexually abused them by touching them inappropriately or sexually assaulting them. Larsson admitted that he engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with one of the children, the DA’s office said.

He has to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, the DA’s office said.

After those discussions, the victims agreed to the terms of this plea bargain and made it clear they wanted to put this monster behind them and move on with their lives.  This Defendant committed vile acts against young children, and he is going to spend the next few decades of his life behind bars for it,” Wood County Criminal District Attorney Angela Albers said. “I hope that this allows the victims to move forward with their lives and heal from this tragedy.  As they told the Defendant in court, they are not his victims—they are survivors.  My office will continue to protect children just like them in Wood County and hold the people that harm them accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
