SAN ANTONIO — An Edgewood ISD PD officer was involved in a traffic accident while providing an escort for a volunteer group delivering Christmas presents, the district says.
The officer was driving southbound on General McMullen Drive with emergency lights on with the group.
While trying to stop traffic, the district says a northbound vehicle in the turn lane failed to yield the right of way and cut in front of the officer’s unit. The officer’s vehicle hit the other car.
The officer, driver and a passenger in the civilian vehicle were taken to a local hospital. The officer had minor injuries but has since been released.
SAPD is handling the rest of the investigation.
It’s unclear if the driver faces any charges.
