Elderly woman found dead at San Antonio north-side apartment

Initially, police said the 73-year-old woman was assaulted and her son was detained by officers shortly afterward.

SAN ANTONIO — A 73-year-old woman was found deceased at her north-side apartment Sunday afternoon, according to San Antonio police. Initially, police said she was assaulted and her son was detained by officers shortly afterward.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 3500 block of West Avenue at about 4:20 p.m. Sunday for what was described as a family disturbance.

When police arrived at the home, they saw the victim unconscious and being given CPR. Police say the victim had trauma to her face and head. EMS arrived at the apartment and pronounced the elderly woman deceased.

One of the woman’s daughters told KENS 5 that her sister had discovered their mother dead on the floor of the apartment.

Further investigation indicates that no assault occurred and the victim passed of what seems to be natural causes.

This is still an active investigation.
