Embers from a barbecue pit ignited a bag of charcoal and sparked a late-night fire on Shavano Court, causing about $25,000 in damage but no injuries.
A small fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage to a home late Sunday night on the city’s north side.
San Antonio firefighters were called to the 4700 block of Shavano Court around 10:13 p.m. after reports of a fire.
According to a battalion chief with the San Antonio Fire Department, embers from a barbecue pit traveled across a porch and ignited a bag of charcoal sitting near a chimney. The flames then spread up the chimney.
Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire before it caused more extensive damage.
Everyone inside the home was able to get out safely, and no injuries were reported.
The San Antonio Fire Department and San Antonio Police Department both responded to the scene.
