SAN ANTONIO — Several cars became stuck in flood water on Highway 281 on the north side early Wednesday morning.
Traffic cameras showed at least four cars stalled out right at Highway 281 and Brook Hollow. Some drivers were even seen getting out of their cars. This all unfolded just after 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Heavy rain poured along the I-35 corridor from late Tuesday night to early Wednesday morning. Some gauges have reported 2 to 3 inches of rain in 1 hour. Several low water crossings have already flooded and some roads closed.
Meanwhile, emergency crews were working to rescue those cars stuck on Highway 281. Officials say some lanes of southbound 281 has reopened as of 8 a.m. at Brook Hollow. The Texas Department of Transportation says the high water was caused by a drainage issue.
