Encouraging news regarding Wembanyama’s knee injury; Broadcast change for Spurs-Thunder January game

San Antonio Spurs’ star Victor Wembanyama’s MRI tests reveal no severe damage to his left knee.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama exited the team’s recent game versus the Knicks late in the game with an apparent serious left knee injury.

Following the game, the Spurs center said he may have suffered a left knee hyperextension, but felt he was fine and nothing to worry about.

“I was confident. I was this close to coming back in the game,” Wembanyama said. “They had to hold me back. It was just a hyperextension, so it should be minimal. We’ve got to do everything tomorrow still to check that everything’s OK.”

However, there appears to be no significant knee injury or hyperextension, as the Spurs’ injury report ahead of the Pacers game listed him as out with left knee soreness. The team says an MRI showed no ligament damage.

Expect the Spurs to monitor Wemby’s knee moving forward and not rush his return.
