
Fire crews responded to a fire burning in a field near I-37 and Southton Road on San Antonio’s far south side.
SAN ANTONIO — Fire crews are on the scene of a large brush fire that broke out on the far south side Tuesday afternoon.
The fire was reported near I-37 and Southton Road at around 12:45 p.m.
Video from the scene shows fast-moving flames in a wooded area off the highway. Several fire crews were seen heading toward the flames.
The Bexar County Office of Emergency management has issued an Evacuation Immediate Bulletin for residents in the area as they say the fire is spreading rapidly.
Bexar County Spokesperson Isaac Neri says the radius area of the evacuation includes Southton Road, Donup Road., Strecih & Old Corpus Christi Road and Highway 181 may be closed as the fire is crossing over.
The Braunig Lake area is also reportedly being affected.
A KENS 5 crew is on the scene and working to gather more information.
