Everything must go | Food distribution event Monday after fire damages church

Rivers of Hope Ministries say they will be closed for the foreseeable future while they regroup and determine next steps due to the damage caused by the fire.

SAN ANTONIO — A fire Sunday morning caused significant damage to Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, the same location where Rivers of Hope Ministries operates its H.O.P.E. Food Pantry.

Because of the extent of the damage and uncertainty about when the facility will be usable again, the ministry says it will be closed “for the foreseeable future” while leaders regroup and determine their next steps.

Despite the setback, Rivers of Hope Ministries says an emergency food distribution will still take place Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the church’s address located at 7804 Eckhert Road on the west side of town.
Drive-up only

Organizers say all food must go and distribution will continue until supplies run out.

The ministry is asking the community for prayers, support, and immediate assistance as they work to rebuild operations. Their most urgent needs include volunteers, a truck to hold more shelves, a refrigerator and a deep freezer. They also say they need a new storage building and a temporary location — even short-term — so they can continue to operate their food pantry

Rivers of Hope leaders say their mission to serve families in need will continue, and they’re hopeful the community can help them recover from the unexpected loss.

Anyone with resources, leads, or the ability to assist is encouraged to reach out to the ministry directly. You can email them at info@riversofhopeministries.com.
