Everything you need to know ahead of UTSA’s home opener against Texas State at Alamodome

From fan giveaways to a new student transportation service, here’s everything you need to know ahead of the highly anticipated rematch in the I-35 Rivalry game.

SAN ANTONIO — Ahead of the highly anticipated I-35 Rivalry game between UTSA and Texas State at the Alamodome this Saturday, KENS 5 has got you covered on everything fans need to know before gameday.

UTSA has high hopes for the 2025 season opener as they are expecting to break the program’s all-time home attendance record of 56,743 fans at the Alamodome.

Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. and all fans are encouraged to come decked out in orange as Saturday will be the Roadrunners’ annual Orange Out game.

Enhanced game day experience

UTSA’s athletics department is now offering enhanced game day fan experience opportunities like videoboard messages, early-bird experience, pregame sideline passes and a concessions round-up, all of which allows the fans to get closer to the action and enhance the experience for season-ticket holders.

After each touchdown, fans are encouraged to direct their attention to the center hung video board for the “NIL Flash Give” where they can scan a QR code to support the football program.

Fan giveaways

As fans get to the Alamodome, they will be given a free set of UTSA Bam Bams. And as fans leave the stadium, Pluckers will be handing out coupons for five free wings if UTSA wins.

Tickets

All students currently enrolled at UTSA are eligible for free admission to all home football games and have the opportunity to purchase up to four tickets for student section seating.

General admission tickets are on sale now on Ticketmaster and by texting or calling 210-458-UTSA (8872).

For walk-up sales, the Alamodome Southwest Box Office will open at 10 a.m., while all other Alamodome box offices will open at 12 p.m. Customer service windows are located at the Northeast and Southeast box offices.

The Alamodome now has a Clear Bag Policy and it will be in effect all season long.

Getting to & entering the Alamodome

As the university expects a record-breaking crowd, fans are encouraged to plan ahead, arrive early for the best parking options or utilize VIA’s Park & Ride. 

Via will offer Park & Ride Service with roundtrip travel to the Alamodome for just $2.60 with reduced fares for students, military and others who qualify. 

UTSA students can use their U-Pass for service to the game. VIAtrans customers and children under age 5 ride for free. VIA bus passes are not valid for this service. VIA’s Day Pass, 7-Day Pass, 31-Day Pass and U-Pass are valid for Special Event Service.

To take a look at downtown street and lane closures, fans can visit sanantonio.gov.

Season ticket holders have a designated entrance at Gate 3 near the Northeast corner, along with designated concession stands in Section 110 (Johnny Rockets) and Section 136 (Chikis Texican Grill).

Doors open to the public at 1 p.m. and speed lanes will be available at security checkpoints for those with no bags. Fans are encouraged to have their keys, phone and wallet out before getting to the scanners.

HEJ, UTSA (Student Transportation)

New this year for students and their guests, IKEA will have signage displayed on the North Paseo Bus Oval and Alamodome for pick-up and drop-off locations for free shuttle service to and from the Alamodome for home football games. 

Shuttles will begin service to the Alamodome at 11:30 a.m. Passengers will be dropped off at the Robert Thompson Transit Station at the Alamodome, where the return journey will begin at the start of the fourth quarter, with the last one departing an hour after the game ends. 

Parking

Fans who have already purchased parking permits will be parking in Alamodoe lots A, B and C, which will all open at 8 a.m. for those with valid parking passes. If fans enter the lots before they open, UTSA says staff members will ask them to vacate their spot(s) and re-enter once the lots are open.

Limited ADA parking spots will be available on a  first-come, first-served basis.

There is also several paid public parking lots around the Alamodome and downtown San Antonio.

Rowdy Town Live at H-E-B Plaza

This free event is available to all UTSA fans and will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the H-E-B Plaza and VIA Bridge on the north side of the Alamodome.

Rowdy Town Live will include a live DJ set, family-friendly carnival-style attractions, including a swing ride, video game truck, mechanical bull and an autograph session with the 2025 American Conference Champion UTSA women’s basketball team.

Watching from home?

Saturday’s game will air on ESPN+ and via the ESPN app. where Jack Benjamin and LaDarrin McLane will call the action. 

UTSA Sports Media Network will air the game live in the San Antonio area on Sports Radio AM 760 The Ticket, online at ticket760.com and via the free iHeartRadio app. Andy Everett, Jay Riley and Ed Suarez  will have the call on there. 

Pat Evans is et set to host a two-hour pregame show and a 45-minute postgame show.
