The wide receiver got a kick out of Swift’s reaction when he was drafted by the Chiefs in the first round. She talked about it on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Pop superstar Taylor Swift may not have known much about football before she began dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, but she proved to be a quick study.
That became apparent during Swift’s recent appearance on New Heights, the podcast hosted by Travis and his brother Jason. She shared a story about her reaction after learning the Chiefs had drafted Texas Longhorn Xavier Worthy in the first round of the 2024 draft.
“I became, like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!’” Swift said. “And my friends were like, ‘Who body snatched you?’… I was screeching, I couldn’t believe it.”
Kelce admitted he was surprised when Swift told him the Chiefs just drafted the fastest man in the NFL Combine. He looked it up and sure enough, they’d traded up for Worthy.
The ex-Longhorn met Swift during his rookie season, but hadn’t heard the story about her reaction to the draft until this week.
“That’s crazy,” Worthy said. “I ain’t gonna lie, she’s like the biggest pop star in this generation. So, it’s crazy to have to have somebody like her running around the house screaming, ‘We drafted you.’ That’s what’s up.”
Worthy scored six touchdowns with 59 receptions and 638 receiving yards in the 2024 regular season. He added three more touchdowns in the postseason.
After her Worthy name drop, the biggest pop star on the planet and shrewd businesswoman can probably add the Longhorn nation to her millions of fans.
