The fire made six units uninhabitable, officials say.
SAN ANTONIO — A fire broke out at a two-story apartment complex on the southeast side of town Sunday afternoon.
It happened around noon at the Spanish Crest apartments on Utopia Lane.
Six units were involved in the fire, three upstairs and three downstairs, according to SAFD. When first responders arrived at the scene, crews immediately worked to evacuate the residents.
Firefighters had to go inside the attic to check for possible extension of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The initial point of origin still under investigation. Firefighters have not yet made contact with the tenants of the unit where the fire began.
The extreme heat conditions and difficult access made fighting the fire challenging, officials say.
All six units impacted by the fire are currently uninhabitable. The residents who were displaced are being relocated and provided assistance.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.
This is a developing story.
