USGS has confirmed a 4.5 magnitude earthquake near Falls City, tied for fifth-biggest in Texas since the start of 2024, records show.
KARNES COUNTY, Texas — A 4.5 magnitude earthquake has been confirmed by United States Geological Survey (USGS).
KENS 5 received several reports from viewers who felt an earthquake in Karnes County. Others said they felt it as far away as San Antonio.
The National Weather Service shared the following:
Earthquakes have happened in the past, but many in Falls City commented that the length of this earthquake was longer than what they’ve experienced.
“It honestly lasted for quite a few seconds,” said Holli Foster. “Longer than the past ones have. We had one last year where things actually fell off the shelves and that one was definitely a little more startling.”
