Family believes body found at northeast San Antonio park is missing Navy veteran from St. Louis

Jarvis McIntyre was last seen June 8. His family is urging anyone with information to talk with police.

SAN ANTONIO — The family of 26-year-old Jarvis McIntyre says they believe the body found at John James Park at Holland and Rittiman Road on Friday morning is the missing navy veteran.

Monikki Williams Tippet, McIntyre’s mom, said she spoke with the Bexar County Medical Examiner and believes the tattoos on the body are consistent with her son.

“I was praying it wasn’t him,” Tippet said.

Tippet said she was informed by detectives that McIntyre called 911 and was reportedly running in the park Sunday afternoon. McIntyre reportedly called a person chasing him a “racist.”

Tippet said the family is asking anyone who has any information about McIntyre’s death to come forward.

“I want answers now. I want this person found,” Tippet said.

The medical examiner has not officially confirmed the identity of the body or how the person died.

Tippet and her family believes someone hurt McIntyre based on his skin color or his sexual orientation. She said McIntyre enjoyed standing out and being different.

“He didn’t deserve this. They took my baby’s life for no reason,” Tippet said.

McIntyre flew from St. Louis to San Antonio to visit his two sisters during his birthday weekend. He was supposed to return last Sunday, but he never made it home. He was last seen June 8 near Holbrook Road between Rittiman Road and Corrine Drive.

His mom, stepdad, brother and aunt flew to San Antonio from St. Louis, and since Wednesday they had been putting up missing flyers searching for any sign of him. The family brought balloons and flowers to the location where the body was found Saturday afternoon to commemorate the navy veteran’s passing birthday.

The family said they want the San Antonio Police Department to do more to help find the person responsible.

McIntyre’s family says he constantly posts on social media, but when he didn’t respond to birthday messages Monday and didn’t post anything, his family knew something was wrong.

Tippet said she is thankful to the social media community for their prayers, re-posts and support.

McIntyre’s rental car and his belongings were found just a block away from John James Park off Holbrook Road.
On Friday, the San Antonio Police Department confirmed a body had been found off Holbrook Road, but they have not confirmed the cases are connected.

Anyone who knows any information about this case is asked to contact the San Antonio Police Department at (210)-207-7660.
