Family evacuated safely from Taco Cabana after fire broke out at restaurant

An employee told officials there was a homeless person hanging out where the fire started earlier in the night.

SAN ANTONIO — A family had to be evacuated after a fire broke out at a Taco Cabana on the northwest side of town late Wednesday night.

One employee believes a homeless person might have started it.

San Antonio firefighters responded to the restaurant in the 12700 block of I-10 West at De Zavala Road just after 10 p.m.

When first responders arrived, flames were already shooting out from an exterior wall. Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire, but a family had to be evacuated from the restaurant.

An employee told officials there was a homeless person hanging out where the fire started earlier in the night.

Thankfully, nobody was injured in the blaze.
