SAN ANTONIO — For the first time, we’re hearing from the family of the Amazon worker who was shot and killed earlier this week.
26-year-old Katrael Delosier was killed Sunday night outside the Amazon facility on Highway 90 west and Loop 1604.
Two men have since been arrested in his murder.
The family of Delosier wants answers as to why their loved one wasn’t safe at work.
“My family is devastated by the loss of my brother. He was only 26, turning 27 in March,” Katrael’s brother Keshawn said.
Keshawn shared how Katrael was a father of two boys who loved his family.
“Katrael worked long hours. He recently completed training to be a mechanic, and he was excited about reaching milestones. He was going to propose, and I was going to be his best man,” Keshawn said.
Keshawn never thought the brother he called every day, who’d cut his hair and keep him company, would be shot to death at work.
On Jan. 11, Katrael was taken to the hospital, where he died after being shot just an hour before.
According to arrest records, the shooting stemmed from a longstanding dispute between two Amazon employees.
That escalated Sunday night after one claimed he had a gun.
Investigators say the other employee called for “backup,” and phone records show two men arrived at the facility and opened fire, killing Katrael Delosier and wounding a second man.
Both suspects were arrested and now face murder charges, each held on a $300,000 bond.
“He was an innocent bystander who had no connection to what occurred,” Natalie Gamez, spokesperson for the law firm representing the family, said.
The family hired the Gamez Law Firm as they looked for answers.
“In recent days, individuals have come forward to share information with the firm about prior concerns about violence at this facility,” Gamez said.
After the shooting, Amazon said it reached out to the family to provide support.
“The family has confirmed that Amazon has not contacted them,” Gamez said.
We reached out to Amazon, and they said the business did reach out to the family following what happened, offering their condolences and offering information about benefits and services to help.
