Family raising money for Bastrop boy who drowned in pond near his home

The family of a Bastrop County 7-year-old boy is raising funds for a funeral after he was discovered dead in a pond not far from their home. The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office found the boy, Jesus Castellanos-Carreon, Sunday evening at the pond after he wandered off with his two dogs, according to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office. 

The boy’s parents, Felipe Castellanos and Blanca Carreon-Antonio, noticed that Jesus was missing from their home on Sunday around 2:40 p.m. The parents found signs that Jesus might have walked to a nearby large pond and called 911. Bastrop sheriffs, the Austin Police Department, and other emergency crews began an air, ground, and water search. 

“If you ever meet him you know how sweet and happy he was,” the GoFundMe post reads. “Always trying to make us smile with his laughs and smiles, his sweet hugs that would warm anyone up.”
