Family seeks answers amid theft of heirloom jewelry during football game in San Antonio

A south-side family seeks answers after their son’s heirloom jewelry was stolen from a locker. They say they will not press charges if someone turns it all in.

SAN ANTONIO — A south-side family is hoping for answers after their son’s cherished jewelry vanished.

They say two necklaces and a gold bracelet were stolen from a locker at Southside High School back in October.

It was during a football game at Southside High School the family told me 14-year-old Jordan had his jewelry stolen.

The jewelry was a grandfather’s last wish before he died. Just before Rosemary Sandoval’s husband, Frank, died a few years back, he promised his now 14-year-old grandson Jordan his jewelry.

“And we gave it to Jordan as a gift after his birthday from his grandfather,” Sandoval said.

Including a gold bracelet, Sandoval gifted her husband when they got married over four decades ago.

His nickname, ”Kiko,” is written in gold, entrusted to the one Frank knew should wear a piece of his legacy.

“In a split second, it just disappeared,” she said.

While playing football on Oct. 24 at Southside High School, Sandoval said Jordan left his jewelry in his backpack inside his locker in the boys’ locker room.

“His mom called me and said, ‘You know what Jordan is really upset, he’s scared.’”

Jewelry worth thousands of dollars, gone.

“If this jewelry does show up in their homes, it’s not an item they found that was misplaced; it was an item that was taken.”

But more than that, a piece of frank was stolen too.

“And I really believe if it comes back it was god meant…it was meant to come back.”

No sign of the jewelry just yet, but Sandoval knows the school has footage of whoever went into the locker room that day.

We reached out to the district on where the investigation stands, but have not heard back.

“If someone returned it, it would bring joy to us.”

If you have the jewelry or know where it is, the family says they will not press charges on whoever returns it.

They just want their jewelry and for everyone to learn a lesson.
