SAN ANTONIO — The way San Antonio Spurs‘ Victor Wembanyama has been playing this season, it seemed like he was a lock for the 2025 West All-Star team starting five.
But this will not be the case.
The NBA announced the final voting returns for the West starters, but Wemby did not make the squad.
The Spurs center has a legitimate case that he was snubbed from the West team.
He leads the league in blocks with 4.0 per game. In addition, among forwards, he is fifth in rebounding at 10.8, seventh in scoring at 24.6, sixth in defensive rebounding at 9.0, and tied for sixth in double-doubles at 20. He also averages 24.6 points per game and 3.8 assists.
However, Wemby isn’t focusing on individual acknowledgment but on helping the Spurs improve.
“I didn’t have my mind on that at all. I mean, I just know there’s a lot going on right now, and we got games to focus on,” said Wembanyama.
After the announcement, Spurs fans were irate that Wemby was left off the starting squad.
Here’s a sample of what Spurs fans had to say on social media:
There’s a good chance he will be selected for the West reserve squad and make his first All-Star team, but he has put up starter-worthy numbers this season.
