Fatal accident causes road closures on Highway 211, deputies say

BCSO responded to a deadly accident that shutdown the north and southbound lanes of Highway 211 on the city’s far west side.

SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office issued a traffic alert Monday afternoon following a fatal accident on Highway 211.

The north and southbound lanes were shut down. BCSO said northbound traffic was diverted near Mansion Bluff, while Highway 90 traffic was diverted onto the access road.

The accident resulted in traffic delays and road closures and drivers were advised to avoid the area.

According to an update from BCSO, the accident occurred when a vehicle didn’t stop at an intersection while traveling westbound across the north and southbound lanes of HWY 211, crossing the path of an 18-wheeler traveling northbound.

The 18-wheeler and the vehicle collided and the driver of the vehicle was ejected, sustaining major injuries. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
