Fatal crash on SA’s west side leaves one person dead in vehicle fire, officials say

Authorities did not say what lead up to the crash.

SAN ANTONIO — One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash on the west side Tuesday morning, authorities said. 

Bexar County Sheriff Deputies were called to W Loop 1604 near Marbach Road around 6:30 a.m. 

Deputies say two vehicles were involved in a crash. A Toyota 4Runner apparently struck a pillar and caught fire on the northbound lanes. The occupant was trapped inside. 

Emergency crews were able to extinguish the fire but found the occupant unresponsive. Authorities say the victim died. 

Deputies did not say what lead up to the crash. 

Two left lanes of traffic are closed as crews clean up the scene.
