HUNT, Texas — Dozens of people are confirmed dead after flooding in the Texas Hill Country, which started Friday morning.

Many people are also still missing, including four young adults – three of whom were students from Beaumont – who are still missing near Hunt.

The three people from Beaumont, who graduated from Monsignor Kelly High School, remain unaccounted for after last being heard from as they attempted to reach higher ground during the flooding. Family members have identified them as Ella Cahill, Aidan Heartfield, Joyce Badon and Reese Manchaca.

Amid the ongoing search and rescue efforts, Ty Badon spoke with CNN about the frantic search for his daughter, Joyce, and her friends.

Ty Badon told CNN that Joyce and her friends drove to the Texas Hill Country to spend the weekend at a home along the Guadalupe River. During his search, he found the body of a young boy, which he reported to 911.

“We pray that all four of them are still alive,” Ty Badon told CNN. “[Aidan] gave the phone to Joyce and [she] said, ‘They just got washed away,’ and a few seconds later, the phone went dead. That’s all we know. We presume that she got washed away as well.”

Ty Badon also added that the house where the four young adults were staying was no longer there.

“We ask that you pray, and whoever watches this – pray,” Ty Badon said. “Keep the faith.”

Who are the victims of the flood?

At least 43 people have been confirmed dead, but authorities have not identified the victims. However, we’re starting to learn more about them through loved ones, like Camp Mystic director Dick Eastland, who died while trying to save campers from the floods.

Seven people have also died in Travis and Burnet counties after heavy rains led to flooding in parts of Central Texas on Saturday.
