CONVERSE, Texas — Our “Forgotten Friends” series showcases a dog or cat each week that has spent a lengthy time at an area shelter, just waiting for someone to notice them and bring them home to love.
This week’s Forgotten Friend is a 7-year-old Shepherd mix named Fawna that was dumped at the Converse Animal Shelter back in 2021 with her two sisters. That was four years ago and Fawna has been at the shelter ever since, waiting and hoping for a home of her very own.
She is quite shy and perhaps a bit nervous. Once she’s fully embraced you as her person, she is just the sweetest…eager for love and to give love! She can be picky about her dog friends, so slow introductions are the perfect way to ensure there is harmony between the canines in the house. Come meet Fawna and become mesmerized by her good looks and latent charm.
She gets along great with most other dogs but is a bit picky about exactly which ones. She’s okay with cats too.
She’s a very smart, and fun-loving gal who loves to play fetch. She also loves go to the dog park and go for runs with her human.
“Fawna loves to play and is very motivated by treats,” said shelter staff.
“She loves to be petted everywhere but especially loves butt scratches,” said shelter staff.
She’d do great in a home with older kids that can keep her busy.

Fawna has already been spayed, is up to date on her shots and is super healthy.

They are open:
- Tuesday – Friday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. & 2 to 4 p.m.
- Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Closed Sunday & Monday
For whoever adopts Fawna, Lucy’s Doggy Daycare & Spa will be lending a paw by offering them a free “Glow Up” Day at the Spa, which includes a massage therapy bath and Pawdicure. One of Lucy’s most cherished core values is to continue Lucy’s legacy of giving back to pups in need, as Lucy herself was a rescue!
Adoptions fees:
- All adult animals at shelter are $150, kittens and puppies are $200
- Includes Microchip, Spay/Neuter, Vaccinations
CASI is open for business and have many wonderful animals available for adoption. They are a 501 c3 no-kill, non-profit, and rely on donations and adoptions. They are not run by the government and receive no funding from the city. They are a private shelter.
