Federal investigation prompts large law enforcement presence in far north Bexar County neighborhood

ATF confirmed it is leading the investigation, saying only that agents “executed a federal search warrant this morning and are on scene.”

SAN ANTONIO — Federal agents executed a search warrant Friday morning on the far north side, prompting a significant law enforcement response in the Canyon Ranch neighborhood, officials said.

Activity began early in the 300 block of Eugene Sasser, near Timberwood Park, where neighbors reported seeing a heavy police presence.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) confirmed it is leading the investigation, saying only that agents “executed a federal search warrant this morning and are on scene.” No details have been released about the subject of the warrant.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad also responded to the area. Officials have not said why the specialized unit was needed.

As of Tuesday late morning, the scene remained active. No arrests have been announced at this time.

This is a developing story.
