Feeling lucky? This New Braunfels speakeasy could pick up your tab

The speakeasy first opened in 2018 beneath the historic Prince Solms Inn.

SAN ANTONIO — Want to win a fully comped tab at a vintage speakeasy? You can in downtown New Braunfels.

Sidecar, located at 295 E San Antonio St, is letting guests test their luck every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. as part of their new limited-time “High Stakes Happy Hour.” During this time. Parties of 10 or fewer receive the bar’s signature “Dice Roll” box when the check is presented. One guest has 60 seconds to roll the die, and if it lands on a six, the entire tab is comped. All rolls must take place before 6 p.m.

“We’re thrilled to roll out this limited-time experience. It’s our way of shaking things up and giving the New Braunfels community a happy hour unlike any other. One that’s exciting, original, and truly memorable,” owners Terry and Celina Muckenfuss said in a press release.

According to the release, a 20% automatic gratuity, calculated on the original check total, will be applied to all winning tabs. The prize is non-transferable and may not be redeemed for cash.

Sidecar will continue to offer its regular happy hour selections Tuesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., including their classic cocktails, draft beers, and wine at special pricing. The press release did not state when the High Stakes Happy Hour would end.

The speakeasy first opened in 2018 beneath the historic Prince Solms Inn and is known for being a local favorite with its moody and intimate atmosphere.
